Utility Data Auto-Sync
Brightest supports self-serve utility sync for assets and sites, enabling automated collection of electricity and Scope 2 emissions data directly from your utility providers. Once your asset or site is connected to your utility provider, Brightest will automatically upload your utility data and invoices to your asset footprint page.
Utility sync is currently only available for United States-based assets. However, we are looking to expand this feature to support other regions in the future.
Coverage: Most major U.S. utilities and regions (see full list)
Cost: $90 USD per meter per year
Meters: A meter represents the unit your utility measures and bills. Multiple utility providers can be connected to a single asset.
Requirements:
Direct account with your utility provider
Access to your utility account login credentials
Payment of the annual fee
Limitations: If you lease space and your landlord receives the bills, youβll need their cooperation and account access to enable sync.
Setup is fast and straightforward once you have utility login credentials and payment in place.
To set up your utility sync, follow these steps:
Notify your account manager of the number of meters youβd like to sync and arrange payment of the service fee.
Then, go to your Sustainability Module.
Navigate to your Assets overview page.
Identify the asset for which you want to set up the utility sync. Then enter the asset's footprint page by clicking on "Edit or Add data.
Once in the asset footprint page, click on the three dot symbol in the top right menu bar. Then click on "Utility data sync".
Begin typing or select the name of your utility provider in the dropdown menu.
Once you've selected your utility provider, click "Create Utility Connection". This will initiate the connection process.
You will then see the utility connection appear with the status "Pending". Click on "Complete Utility Account Authentication" to complete the sync.
Authenticate your utility account
Next you will be redirected to the third party provider Bayou Energy.
Select "Continue"
Then provide your login credentials for the utility provider to complete the connection.
Successful utility sync
Once youβve authenticated your utility account, your sync setup is complete.
A successful sync will be indicated by a green lightning bolt symbol. A pending sync will be indicated by a yellow lightning bolt symbol.
Once the utility sync has been successfully complete, Brightest will pull and upload the utility data and invoice from your utility provider to your asset footprint page.
Utility sync will automatically input meter and invoice data for the current year and onward, but it will not import data from previous years.
