Brightest Data Upload Guidelines and Best Practices
Consistent with Greenhouse Gas Protocol's Corporate Standard guidance and methodology of measuring carbon equivalent emissions, Brightest's sustainability platform can calculate your organizations CO2e emissions. In addition to Brightest's carbon calculation features, you can also enter historic data for already calculated CO2e emissions.
All CO2e (carbon equivalents) emissions in Brightest are measured and reported in metric tons.
Carbon accounting takes place in the Sustainability Module of your Brightest account. The Sustainability Module is composed of different tabs. The landing page is your summary dashboard which shows your overall total emissions as well as total emissions by scope, water use, waste and electricity use. Additional tabs may include (depending on your Brightest subscription):
Targets: the targets tab is linked to your Goals Module. This is where you can track the progress of environmental and climate-related targets set in your Goals Module.
Assets: the assets library is where you can add any company owned, operationally controlled or important assets and collect their carbon and environmental footprint data. Assets can represent offices, sites, vehicles, equipment, carbon offsets etc.
Transit: the transit log is where you can keep track of and do the carbon accounting for transit-related activities of your organization, e.g. transportation (upstream or downstream), order shipment, delivery, employee business travel and employee commuting.
Product: the product section is where you can keep track of product purchases, sales or manufacturing and calculate the associated CO2e emissions.
Spend: the spend section allows you to calculate carbon emissions of spend items such as purchased goods and services.
GHG: the greenhouse gas (GHG) tab shows you a breakdown of your GHG emissions in various charts and analytics.
Insights: the insights tab shows a further breakdown of your environmental and carbon data. analyze the data at the organization level, asset level or by supply chain.
